Appearance with Thomas

It occurs to me that Christianity would be a very tough sell without the written testimony of the apostles - the letters of Peters and of course the Gospels of John and Matthew.

Matthew, it would seem to me, could have done a better job of describing the meeting at which he was an actual participant, the meeting with Jesus after he rose from the tomb.

Luke and Mark got their information second hand (I would guess from Peter).

Possibly Mark had first hand eye witness status.

The rest of the apostles, in my opinion, failed to obey the Great Commission in that they left no documentary testimony.

John

Joh 20:26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.

Joh 20:27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

Joh 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Joh 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Joh 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

Joh 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
