Kingdom Promised
A. D. 29
Caesarea Philippi
Here again are statements which can very well be used to support my view that the Kingdom in question came at Pentecost, fifty days after Jesus' death on the cross. Acts 2:1-4
Act 2:1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.Act 2:2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.Act 2:3
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.Act 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 2:38
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.Act 2:39
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
Did Jesus upgrade Peter from "stone" to "rock"
Joh 1:42
And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.Mat 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.These events are two years apart.
I would have thought Jesus is our "Rock". Pretty good claim for Peter as first Pope??
As for accepting Jesus as "Son of God", that was good enough to qualify the Ethiopian Treasurer and "whosoever" for Baptism.
Act 8:37
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.1Jn 4:15
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.Being Son makes him "Heir of all things"
Heb 1:2
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;Maybe Jesus was pointing to himself as "Rock"
1Co 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.Well Jesus is the "Chief Corner Stone"
Eph 2:20
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;Luke says "The Christ of God" Whatever, it appears that to make such a claim was against Jewish law.
Joh 19:7
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
Matthew Mark
Luke
Mat 16:27
For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.Mat 16:28
Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Mar 9:1
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Luk 9:26
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.Luk 9:27
But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
