Judas Contracts the Betrayal

Spring A. D. 30

Tuesday

Jerusalem

What could Judas hope to get out of this arrangement?

He saw so much in the line of proof first hand that Jesus was God.  Yet for such a little amount (one Bible puts the 30 pieces of silver as worth $52.80, another as $3,840 - strangely big difference) he was willing to put his salvation at risk.

He must have been motivated by more than the money involved.  Maybe he thought it would put him in line for a good position in the temple.  I do have a theory that his dad was a Pharisee, the Simon in Luke 7:40.

Luk 7:40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

That would make Judas possibly a Levite.
